Oscillation of Reactivity – Frequency Characteristics

frequency characteristics - oscillating reactivityWe will now study a response of a reactor on a reactivity oscillation (frequency characteristics), which is represented by the following function: ρ(t) = ρ0 . cos(ωt). Where ρ0 is the amplitude of the input signal (forcing function) and ω is the signal frequency expressed in radians per second.

Using the inverse Laplace transformation and the system transfer function, G(s), it can be derived that the system response is strongly dependent on the frequency, ω.
